Migrating your website

Here’s what migration actually involves — no surprises, no hidden scope. Most clients come from Wix, Squarespace, or an old WordPress site.

What migration actually means

It’s usually a rebuild

Platforms like Wix and Squarespace use proprietary page builders that don’t export cleanly to WordPress. “Migration” in most cases means rebuilding your site on WordPress using your existing content, images, and branding as the source material.

WordPress to WordPress

Moving from one WordPress host to another is more straightforward — content, plugins, and settings transfer cleanly. We handle the technical side including DNS cutover and SSL setup. Complex custom code or non-standard setups may still need review.

Migration fees include the launch fee

You’re not paying a launch fee on top of a migration fee. The migration fee covers the full project — building, launching, and connecting your new WordPress site.

What transfers vs. what gets rebuilt

  • Blog posts (where applicable)

Timeline

Most migrations take 1–3 weeks from kickoff to launch. Timeline depends on how quickly content is provided and how complex the site is. We’ll give you a realistic estimate after reviewing the get-started form.

Common questions

Can I keep my existing domain?

Yes. Your domain stays in your name and we handle the DNS cutover as part of the migration. You’ll have a brief window where we test everything on staging before pointing your domain to the new site.

Will my SEO rankings be affected?

Some fluctuation is normal after any site migration. We set up redirects for changed URLs, transfer meta titles and descriptions, and submit the updated sitemap to Google. Most sites recover and often improve within a few weeks.

What do I need to provide?

Access to your current site so we can review the content and structure, your logo files, and any brand assets or preferences. The get-started form walks you through what to gather.

Will my site go down during the migration?

No. We build the new site on staging first, get your approval, then cut over the domain. Your existing site stays live until the new one is ready.

I have an online store. Can you migrate it?

Ecommerce migrations are more complex and are quoted on a case-by-case basis. Product data, payment setup, and order history each have different considerations. Fill out the get-started form and we’ll let you know what’s involved.
